Course Objective

On completion of this course you will have knowledge in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of how and why to use a Polar heart rate monitor.
  • Knowledge of the benefits of heart rate training.
  • Basic knowledge of the heart muscle and how it affects training.
  • Basic knowledge of the energy pathways, fuel sources and metabolism.
  • Knowledge of heart rate training basics (resting heart rate, average heart rate and maximum heart rate).
  • Knowledge of how to determine a maximum heart rate.
  • Knowledge of target heart rate zones.
  • Knowledge of the factors that affect heart rate.
  • Knowledge of the super compensation curve.
